ABOUT US

Leading Without Ego develops and trains leaders to be more intentional when it comes to the skillful deployment of attention. Leaders learn to become more aware of their underlying thought processes and emotions which contribute to the rigid behavioral responses that hold them back in their interpersonal relationships. Expanding the capacity to become more aware of these unconscious, habitual routines and behaviors is an important first step to moving toward more mindful and intentional behaviors, thus enabling more authentic and higher-quality relationships. This increased awareness helps leaders stay in the present moment with an increased clarity rather than see the world through a lens of judgment and bias that seeks to protect and reinforce one’s own identity or ego. By combining the latest leadership, neuroscience, and psychological scientific research with mindfulness training and strategies to hone the capacity to exist more in the present moment, Leading Without Ego empowers leaders to become the masters of their own attentional destiny rather than allowing these valuable attentional resources to become diverted leading to suboptimal performance and interpersonal outcomes.

The Art and Science of Mindful Leadership

As workplace and personal demands and stressors continue to increase, the ability to pay attention and remain focused despite the bombardment of information from all directions, presents a serious challenge for organizational leaders. The skillful deployment of attention thus offers a vital competitive advantage for leaders so that they can filter out the information that is not helpful and focus on the information that is relevant and useful. Further, when it comes to what leaders think, say, feel, and do in the workplace, everything matters. This is because the modern workplace is increasingly diverse and requires complex, interdependent coordination of effort to produce high quality outcomes. When leaders aren’t aware of their underlying motivations, assumptions, and biases in how they attend to, process, and react to the information, people, and events they encounter, the result is a set of automatic, unconscious reactions which often lead to suboptimal and even damaging results rather than intentional and mindful actions.

Train leaders to recognize the benefits of becoming more aware of the focus of their attentional resources on an on-going basis. When leaders learn how to recognize when they are diverting mental energy and attention toward unhelpful ends, they are empowered to redirect their attention toward ends which decrease anxiety and stress and reinforce positive relationships.

Build mindful leadership capacity for leaders to further cultivate awareness of self and the biases they bring to the workplace every day. Through mindful awareness, leaders can gain control over their ability to regulate their emotions, ensure alignment between their values and their behaviors they exhibit, and ultimately build and maintain moreauthentic relationships.
